Speak Their Love Language

Speak Their Love Language

Way back in 1992 Dr. Gary Chapman wrote a book defining five love languages in romantic relationships in an effort to offer perspectives on how we connect with those we value.

I believe that these hold true for non romantic relationships as well. I believe we interpret how others feel about us in so many subtle and not so subtle ways on an ongoing basis but I cannot argue with his findings (as basic as they may be).

"Recieveing/ Giving Gifts ❤️ "

He narrowed down the way that we give and receive love into the following categories...

Words of affirmation
Quality time
Physical touch
Acts of service
Receiving gifts

While I don't believe that we all fit into these categories perfectly or don't use more than more than one way to express or feel love - I think they do carry meaning and provide use in daily life.

Among these languages, "Receiving Gifts" and in turn " Giving Gifts" acts as a meaningful way to show affection and appreciation - and it just so happens that it's something I can help with :)

The Magnetic Fields said it best in the song The Book of Love ... " … But I, I love it when you give me things".

For those who also speak this love language, the act of giving gifts isn’t just about the item itself but about the thought, effort, and emotional connection behind it. It's not about the size of the gift, it's about the connection to that gift and the significance that that holds.

If you find yourself drawn to giving gifts and love the joy it brings to others, you understand that a gift can be a deep expression of love. This power of gift-giving goes beyond romantic relationships. It's about nurturing connections with mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. It's about celebrating milestones, offering comfort during difficult times, and simply saying "thank you" for being in your life.

The Language of Gifting: More Than Just Objects

For individuals whose love language is Gift Giving/ Gift Receiving, a present is more than a physical object—it’s a tangible representation of love, care, and thoughtfulness. Gifts are often cherished not just for their material value but for the emotional significance they carry. A carefully selected piece of jewelry can crystalize a moment, a memory, or a feeling.

Here's a recent customer testimonial I received and it rang so true, I actually got inspired to write this blog post. She purchased the Circles Necklace as a gift for her sister:

"Absolutely beautiful!"

"I purchased this as a gift for my sister and it’s just beautiful! We are four sisters in my family so the four delicate gold circles are not only beautiful but meaningful as well. The wood just adds to the organic design. Love the Paperclip style chain as well. It allows the wearer to pretty much tailor the length perfectly. My sister is going to love it!" - B.Jennings
